Mwana News – August 2026

“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it”.  Luke 18v17

What is it about childlike faith that the Lord commends? It is a simple, wholehearted trust in him, an expectation that He will do what He says, and a humble confidence in His love. Children seem to have an innate awareness of God; they do not feel the need to overanalyse or demand proof, but often have a natural openness to knowing and communicating with Him. I see these qualities in so many of the children we minister to, and it gives us great joy to tell them about their loving heavenly Father and the free gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.
Kimberly and Daniel turned 9 years old in June.

We have just clocked one year since our new studio was opened.  The offices, studios, classrooms, kitchen and bedrooms and are now fully functional.  We even have a music room upstairs for music lessons.  We are left with some final improvements including security cameras, resurfacing of the car park, banisters on some of the external stairs and more lighting and camera equipment in our studio.  I so enjoy my new office, with the north facing window giving warm winter sunshine in the morning, making this winter feel pleasantly warm.   August is a holiday month for Zambian children before the third term of school in September.  Kimberly and Daniel are now 9 years old, they are both tall for their age, they love Jesus, love school and love playing football!

Diana and Linval Hermit – Short Term Missionaries from Manchester

We have been delighted to have Diane and Linval Hermit from Manchester serving with us from February to July 2026.  They are members of GoChurch Manchester.  I was at Bible school with their Pastors and they have supported Mwana Ministries for many years.  Diana came to work in our small school, teaching the grade 3 and 4 class and Linval served with Mwana Mission and with the general running of the ministry.  We thank God for their sacrifice and how the Lord blessed their time with us.  Please click on the link to watch the Mwana Podcast and to hear more from Diana and Linval.

Our new YouTube channel called Mwana Studios is growing in content and influence.   At present we hold a weekly acoustic worship set, where different worship leaders come into the studio and lead worship for 15minutes.  We are getting very positive feedback and slowly becoming more known in Zambia for christian media content.  Whilst producing quality gospel content we are also raising a team of skilled videographers who can help take our media production forward.

Our vision for media remains unchanged.  We aim to produce Christian content to reach African children with the gospel.  Although puppets is our signature medium for preaching the gospel, we are lead by the Holy Spirit to start producing a children’s drama.   The Lord has connected me to a talented script writer, Clive Gilbert Nyirenda, who is right now writing the scripts of our new 13 episode show, called Kingdom Squad.   Kingdom Squad is a Zambian Christian children’s television series about five school children who discover that they can become heroes by using the gifts and abilities God has given them.  Please pray with us, as we prepare for filming in December and January.  We have a lot still to put in place, but we believe the Lord will make a way for us.  We are particularly praying for more finances to cover our budget.  We are thankful to the Lord that we have secured a £10,000 from grant funding towards this project. However, this covers only 50% of the total cost, and we are seeking additional funding to enable the project to go ahead.

Mwana Mission

This term Mwana Mission has been covering the life of David, starting from Samuel right through to Solomon building the temple.  The beautiful bible stories have been enjoyed by all the children and given much discussion and teaching points.  The puppets stories always reiterate the main teaching lesson of the bible story.  We continue to minister to approximately 7000 children every week.  Many giving their life to Jesus and being established in the word of God.  Our recent lesson about Solomon building the temple, gave a great lesson about church, Church is not the building but is the community of people who meet to worship God, the lesson encouraged the importance of weekly church attendance.  We thank God for the many lives who are being grounded in the word of God.

Finally, Moreblessings has graduated from the School of Mines in Bulawayo! Pastor Remember (right) facilitated our connection with Moreblessings, and we have had the privilege of supporting her with school fees since her upper secondary education. It has been a delight to help her fulfil her dream of completing a three-year degree at the School of Mines. Seeing her graduate is a wonderful achievement and brings us great joy. Please pray with us that she will now be able to find a job in the mining industry.

With so much uncertainty in this world, I count it all joy to continue to serve Jesus with all my heart, soul and mind.  I want to thank all those who continue to financially and prayerfully support Mwana Ministries, may God bless you in your service for Him.

With Love in Christ Jesus,

Janey, Kimberly and Daniel
